today i am grateful that

bill was happy with his birthday day evening
the house got cleaned and the laundry got done... by me.
my mom mailed me a neat pack of photos from when i was little
even though i woke up feeling very ill, i felt better throughout the day
i am looking forward to reading and writing tomorrow.
it is almost thanksgiving.

Birds, bees, dodos.  So It began.

The Attacus Atlas has the largest wingspan of any moth.  It is named such because the patterns on its wings resemble maps.  The hues of the wings also remind me of the antique maps of early explorers.  The Atlas moth's wings have transparent "windows" whose purpose we do not know.  I like to think of them as windows into another world, like looking through the maps into another dimension, a view of a world within a world. 

they are found in the tropical forests of southeast asia, mainly in China.  They are cultivated for their silk. 

It is also thought that they might be named for the Titan of greek mythology.
